Whether you are an antique dealer or personal collector, we would be happy to make an expert appraisal of your violet ray or other medical or scientific antique. I have appraised and done full restoration work for most major museums east of the Mississippi.
Appraisals are available for both foreign and American devices. With your appraisal you will receive:
- Complete description including any patent numbers, maker, or serial numbers
- Description of accompanying documentation
- Estimation of year of production
- Any documented provenance
- Appraisal value
- The above will be in single document form with dated facsimile signature
Appraisal fees are 10% of the appraised value, with a minimum of $10.00 and a maximum of $20.00. No appraisal costs more than $20.00.
Please keep in mind the following before seeking an appraisal:
- Antique violet rays of fine materials and two-part design (handle attaches to a separate electrical box) have highest collectible value
- Vintage (transition of two-part design to single-part design, increased scarcity of materials in construction) have varying collectible value
- Modern single piece (post WWII) design violet ray devices have no collectible value except for personal or novelty use
- Appraised values are based upon condition, functionality, scarcity, accompanying literature and current markets
- Appraisals are estimates only, and no value is guaranteed
- A deposit equal to the minimum fee of $10.00 is required.
- Digital photos plus accurate descriptions will be required for our distance appraisals
- The remainder of the appraisal fee will be billed upon completion
